Projects Updates for Topic: Presentation

  1. Food Waste Management presentation to Housing

On November 12, 2018, Sarthak Prasad from Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) presented a Food Waste Management study to compare the current mode of food waste management (EnviroPure) with 7 other food waste management equipment.

He recommended the Housing at UofI switched from the EnviroPure systems to InSinkerator's Grind2Energy systems as food waste processing system, before sending the processed food waste (in slurry form) to the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District (UCSD) in Urbana, IL. UCSD's Wastewater Treatment Plant  (WWTP) has existing anaerobic digesters that can convert food waste into valuable biogas for electricity generation.

See attached the presentation in PDF form and the detailed cost analysis.

  2. SWATeam expectations 2017-18

  3. Presentation to regional green team and RPC members

Sole Source Aquifer  designation process and impacts presented by Wehrmann and Adams.   The University's drinking water comes from this aquifer, and there are no other viable options for drinking water supply. Many local residents understand how lucky we are to have excellent clean water available from this underground glacial aquifer, but the constantly new population on campus needs to be informed. This presentation showed details of the existing aquifer outline, users, and the results of the search for alternative water sources, which proved this aquifer is our ONLY water source.

  4. Informal presentation of the proposed site

Last week of June 2005, the proposed site for the wind farm project was informally presented by the UI liaison to the officials with the cities of Champaign and Urbana, the village of Savoy, and the Champaign county. However, the city representatives expressed a few initial concerns regarding the proposed site for the turbines.
