  1. Weekly Updates for Zero Waste

    Associated Project(s):

    Hi Pete and Shawn--

    There were no zero waste activities this past week on my part. Morgan White submitted the semester report for zero waste coordination to SSC and noted that the dual bins have been ordered for installation at a handful of locations around campus. She anticipates that they will be installed this fall.

    Best regards,

    Associated Project(s):

    Hi Pete and Shawn—

    Morgan attended the Greenovation Award presentation. Kimberly-Clark gives the award in recognition of waste diverted from the landfill through the Right Cycle program. The award was presented to Serenity Desmond of Noyes Lab on May 28. Morgan talked with Sara Portillo (the K-C representative) and a VWR representative and heard suggestions for increasing sustainability in labs. We’ll recontact in the fall, when the Green Labs Committee starts meeting.

    Best regards,

    Marya Ryan

  3. Weekly Updates for Zero Waste

    Associated Project(s):

    Hi Pete and Shawn--

    Zero waste activities for this past week were that I

    • Drafted a scope change request to SSC to extend the funding period for the Zero Waste Coordination Project through July 31, 2020.
    • Drafted the Spring 2019 Semesterly Report to SSC for the Zero Waste Coordination Project.
    • Sent both drafts to Morgan for her review.
    • Read through the final versions of the Spring 2019 PWR Recommendations.

    Best regards,

    Marya Ryan

  4. Weekly Updates for Zero Waste

    Associated Project(s):

    Hi Pete and Shawn--

    Zero waste activity for this past week was a conversation with Morgan about bringing asking the Green Labs Committee to weigh in on how to safely recycle gloves--and follow up with Kimberly-Clark. The committee will meet in the fall, and Sara Portillo, the Kimberly-Clark representative is aware that our efforts to enable greater lab participation are on hold until then.

    I emailed her after my conversation with Morgan to let her know that engaging the committee appears to be our best path forward. Sara let me know that the University of Illinois is to receive a Right Cylce Greenovation award for its participation in the Right Cycle glove recycling program.

    Best regards,

    Marya Ryan

    Hi Pete and Shawn—

    There were no zero-waste activities this past week. I hope to catch Morgan at the Solar Farm Open House this afternoon and touch base on the glove recycling program.

    Best regards,
