Expanding Education at the Red Oak Rain Garden through Signage and Photography

Project Description

Red Oak Rain Garden is campus’ environmental demonstration landscape built by and for students, incorporating equitable design principles. Located near dormitories and busy pathways, it serves as an accessible learning space, showcasing how rain gardens manage stormwater, protect water quality, and support ecosystems. If awarded this grant, we will install native plant identification signage and fund a camera lens to document small pollinators and birds supported by these plant communities. These efforts will enhance Extension’s ability to engage students through outreach and visual storytelling while strengthening the garden’s role asa living classroom and model for sustainable campus landscapes.

This proposal directly funds the following. See approved budget for details.
1. Identification Signs and Installation 2. Telephoto Zoom Lens
