Bevier Café - Dishroom Sustainability Project

Project Description

The Bevier Cafe is a learning laboratory where FSHN students get to have hands on experience running a food service establishment. The funding requested will be to purchase equipment with greatly reduced energy consumption. The goal of this project is to reduce the carbon footprint of the Bevier Cafe and showcase the improvement to students and the general public. The funding will be used to install a new, energy efficient, ventless dishwashing machine into the Bevier Hall teaching kitchen. This new machine harnesses energy recapturing technology which uses the steam created fro one cycle to heat the next cycle. Bevier's current dishwasher also uses steam, but much less efficiently. This project will help to improve sustainability on campus through the reduction of energy at the Bevier Cafe teaching kitchen.
