CABBI Solar Panels

Project Description

This project funds solar panels to power the Center for Advanced Bioenergy and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI) greenhouse located in the Research Park. CABBI researches ways to create a bio-economy that is economically viable and ecologically sustainable, which should enable better environmental outcomes and counteract climate change. The solar panels will reduce carbon emissions, lessening the buildings’ carbon footprint. It is part of a larger capital project being coordinated through the University Real Estate Services, in close collaboration with Research Park Design Services and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Facilities and Services.

This proposal directly funds:
1. Solar Panels, Labor, and Installation
2. Contractor, Developer Fees
3. Connection to Building
4. Fencing around the Array
5. Electrical Connections, Inverters, Balance of System
