Illini Lights Out 2025
Project Description
iSEE’s Illini Lights Out program aims to reduce the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign energy usage. On Friday nights, volunteers are assigned groups to go to campus buildings and turn off as many lights as they can that otherwise would have been left on all weekend. These volunteers record the number of bulbs switched off and the project leader calculates the energy and money saved. Student volunteers learn how easy it is to make a positive environmental
impact. We are seeking $10,000 to provide incentives for students to attend Illini Lights Out events for the next two years.
