Preventing Window-Strike Bird Fatalities at Beckman Institute
Project Description
To reduce bird-window collisions with the Beckman Institute, we aim to install bird-friendly window decals on the south tower and its connecting airbridge. The project would significantly reduce window collisions that are disproportionately recorded at Beckman and raise awareness of the issue of bird
strikes on campus. The south tower is an ideal target, as a majority of recorded collisions occur there. After implementation, consistent monitoring at Beckman during both the spring and fall survey seasons, as well as the production of a progress report after 1 year, will serve as further evidence for the efficacy of mitigation and inspire further collaboration with campus buildings.
