RENU-House

Project Description

Illinois Solar Decatholon Build Team is comprised of 50 undergraduate and graduate students that are designing and building a home for a single parent with two children through the US Department of Energy sponsored Solar Decathlon competition. This team is excited to present their 2023 Build Challenge entry: RENU-House. The driving principle is to create a house that achieves net-zero energy emissions while incorporating globally environmental sustainability and affordability. Not only is this team intending to create an environmentally resilient home, but also educating people on the green technologies that can be applied in the modern-day A/E and construction industry. Furthermore, this team is partnering with the Habitat for Humanity Champaign chapter which has allowed this team to focus on designing the house while they use their existing system to find a family for RENU-House.
