Field to Flame: Keeping Warm with Biomass

The Energy Farm at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign grows experimental bioenergy crops on more than 300 acres of prime farm land. Instead of burning more than 10,000 gallons of propane to heat the farm's 20ft tall greenhouse, this boiler will turn the prairie grasses grown and harvested annually for research into heating for next season's work. This boiler is the first of its type in the United States — we custom-ordered it from Germany!
