Illini Lights Out (2023)

Project Description

iSEE’s Illini Lights Out program aims to reduce the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign energy usage. On Friday nights, volunteers are assigned groups to go to campus buildings and turn off as many lights as possible that would otherwise have been left on all weekend. These volunteers record the number of bulbs switched off, and the project leader calculates the energy and money saved. Student volunteers learn how easy it is to make a positive environmental impact.
