    Following is Pete Varney's response to the question from Morgan, "In addition to the Ford Lightning EVs, could we potentially get EV versions of the turtle-top 15-person vans?  Also, is there any discussion about getting Hybrid buses for UI Ride?"

Description

UI Ride is an intercampus shuttle service connecting Urbana-Champaign and Chicago to provide an affordable, efficient, and convenient mode of transportation for the University of Illinois System faculty, staff, and students.

All shuttles are wheelchair accessible and can seat up to 18 passengers. On-board amenities include free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, a restroom, collaborative workspaces, and more.

UI Ride is operated by Facilities & Services at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in collaboration with Facilities Management at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Routes run Monday through Friday, multiple times each day.

UI Ride gets you where you need to go without losing productivity and without worrying about traffic and navigation. In addition to a smooth, quiet ride, UI Ride shuttles feature:

  • Wi-Fi and AC power outlets
  • Reserved seating
  • Restroom
  • Storage for one carry-on bag per person (not to exceed 18x14x12 inches)
  • Reading lights and tray tables
  • A four-person workstation for meetings (reservation required)
  • Complimentary water and light snacks
  • Dressing room area
  • Two wheelchair accessible seats, which are lift-equipped
