Over the past several years, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has taken several steps to enhance the Sustainable Transportation projects and experience, and there is a need to have student interns to support these efforts on campus. Currently, Bicycle Programming and Infrastructure Fee (Bike Fee) is only $1 per student per semester, which amounts to about $90,000 per year. I am very grateful for the Bike Fee, however, we cannot budget for intern(s) with that funding. I am requesting the SSC to allocate $50,000 to hire at least one student intern for the Sustainable Transportation projects for the next two years.
