Urban Farmers Hydroponics System

Project Description

This club, the Illini Urban Farmers, would like to purchase a hydroponics system. They would like to have a system for this club to learn more about urban farming and to start building the club. This team wants to understand how the system functions so that they can eventually learn to build a system of their own for use within campus dining halls, dorms, or other buildings. The university will benefit from having this system because it will provide a feasibility study of using these systems on a college campus for year round sustainable food production. The goal of Illini Urban Farmers is to educate the student body of what urban farming is, and to help students have a hands on learning experience of these systems. Owning a hydroponic system will help this club work towards reaching
its goals. This team's desired outcome for this project is to eventually grow food with the system and use this food to show other individuals that it is possible to grow food in campus settings, not just through farming on large plots of land.
