| Indoor Bin Update |
This project will improve the recycling process in buildings around campus by encouraging sustainable actions and improving the layout of waste and recycling bins within these buildings. Facilities & Services collaborated with ISTC to make an “Indoor Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Assessment”. This assessment determined that the type and layout of collection containers in buildings across campus should be standardized. An update would enable them to be co-located and allow for greater infrastructure consistency. |
| Green Roof on Lincoln Hall |
The Lincoln Hall remodeling project consisted of the rehabilitation, restoration, and remodeling of Lincoln Hall on the main quadrangle of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Campus. Three small courtyard additions were also part of the project. Two small green roofs (designed as sedum meadows) were also planted on the coutyard on SE and SW side. |
| Building-Level Energy Usage Report |
This project aims to create a building-level energy usage report with information about each specific building. The initial pilot case will be Lincoln Hall, and behavior change strategies will be incorporated into the final product. Energy Billing System (EBS) Access To gain EBS access, download the forms "FASTNET" and "User_Request_Form-EBS". Read these forms, fill out any require fields, then submit those forms back to fandsebsrequests@mx.uillinois.edu. |
| FY14 RCx |
In FY14, the Retrocommissioning teams completed ten buildings. |
| LAS Honors College - Sustainability Partners [ARCHIVED] |
A Pilot Program to Enhance Opportunities for LAS James Scholars to participate in Honors and have a Positive Impact on our Community. Only Community Partners Involved in this Info Night are approved for this pilot program (while there are many wonderful opportunities, this is a pilot so we are deliberately starting small). No other Partners will be approved for this semester. This evening, you will learn of some of the needs of our Community Partners. |
| ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit [ARCHIVED] |
The ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit was the second round of the T-12 to T-8 Lighting Retrofit Project. A total of 33,192 T-12 fixtures were replaced with thinner, more energy effiecient T-8 fixtures. This will incur a total Annual KWh Savings of 5,335,909 hours. Thirty university buildings were involved in this round of the project. The total Simple Payback is estimated to be 1.17. |
| Lincoln Hall Renovation: LEED Platinum |
The Lincoln Hall Renovation was originally awarded the LEED Gold Certification on July 9, 2010. As of November 2013 the project has achieved LEED Platinum Certification having achieved 52 of the 69 possible points on the LEED Scorecard and becoming the second LEED Platinum Building on the U of I campus. The construction was especially strong in the Energy & Atmostphere, having achieved 14 of out 17 possible points in that area with ten of those for optimizing energy performance. |
| Energy Conservation Incentive Program (ECIP) |
For many departments on campus, energy and utility costs do not impact research, teaching, or departmental budgets. The academic departments are supplied with utilities through the campus administrative budget. For these departments, an incentive program has been implemented to encourage these units to conserve energy. |

| Provide Shower Facilities for Cyclists |
Many encouragement programs for cycling address the needs of cyclists who choose to commute via bicycle. In some cases, the cyclist arrives on campus feeling sweaty and would like to freshen up before beginning the work or school day. To this end, it is convenient if showers are provided for bicycle riders to use on campus. The Business Instructional Facility (BIF) and Lincoln Hall have bicyclist showers for the staff and approved users. This option should be provided to other campus cyclists, to help encourage more bike riding. |
