At the BTAF sustainability network meeting this morning, MSU highlighted the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, oriented around the 17 UN SDGs. SDG 11, “sustainable cities and communities,” ranks universities by their sustainable impact. MSU ranked #14 in the world. To be included in these rankings the universities must apply. We had not heard of this before and thought that this might be something worth pursuing, perhaps appropriate for Meredith’s successor.

Interesting. I took a brief look – it seems universities can be ranked across any of the 17 SDGs. Rankings are based on research, teaching, and campus and local actions. I can talk this over with Madhu but I don’t see why we would not want to participate in the rankings, aside from the effort required to gather and submit data. From what I could determine, there is no fee to participate.
