Certified Green Event Program

The Certified Green Events Program was originally launched in 2020 and has been recently updated in 2024. This program is run by iSEE and aims to encourage all entities at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to commit to more environmentally conscious choices when planning events.

Event organizers can certify their events - even if they are held remotely - by completing any five elective actions among the following categories: transportation, energy use reduction, waste reduction, food and dining, or innovative options.

Post Landfill Action Network (PLAN) [ARCHIVED]

The Post-Landfill Action Network (PLAN) cultivates, educates, and inspires the student-led zero waste movement, informing students about the waste crisis and equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to implement solutions to waste in their campus communities.

PLAN was founded in 2013 by a group of college students. These students witnessed a systemic waste problem on their campus and developed the first student-led, financially self-sustaining, zero waste move-out program of its kind. Other campuses wanted to replicate the program and from there, PLAN was born.

Certified Green Chapter Program

Welcome to the Certified Green Chapter Program at the University of Illinois! The CGCP is a newly-relaunched program of the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment, the University of Illinois center for sustainability-focused research, academic, and campus sustainability improvement. We are very excited to be working with Greek Chapters to increase the sustainability of Greek houses around our campus!
