The Demirjian Park Stadium was awarded LEED silver on November 14th, 2023. The project was awarded 6 out of 6 possible points in the Innovation category. As well as 3 out of 3 points for low emitting materials.

The complex houses the Universities soccer teams, and the track and field teams. 

Demirjian Park features two soccer fields, one for competition use and one for practice use. As well as the track and field complex.

The Ubben Basketball Complex Expansion was awarded LEED Silver Certification on Sep 11th, 2023. Achieving 54 out of 110 possible points.

The Ubben Basketball Complex opened in 1998. The $40 million renovation and expansion of this building was made possible to due to the donations of donors and alumni. This expansion doubled the size of the facility and incorporated some of the newest sports technologies and training facilites.

One of the best ways to increase awareness surrounding zero waste (and sustainability in general) is to promote outreach and education events or opportunities for guest presentations. This project outlines the efforts taken to outreach across campus through a variety of audiences.

Dockless bike share service by Bird Bikeshare started in July 2024.

Established on June 6, 2006 the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) works with the City Council of Urbana to make walking and cycling more viable modes of transportation. Many of BPAC's duties include making recommendations to the City's Capital Improvement Plan, Bicycle Master Plan, and Pedestrian Master Plan.

The Sustainability Advisory Commission (SAC) was established in May 2008 in order to assist the Mayor and City Council of Urbana identify high priority goals in the sustainable management of natural resources. The initial objective for the committee was to develop the Urbana Climate Action Plan. This plan guides community efforts to reduce emissions and meet emission targets.

Student-led project propsed via a Student Sustainability Committee application in spring 2023. The project group is interested in circularizing an element of the university's economy by investigating how campus organic waste can feasibly be converted to green hydrogen or natural gas.

Each August, thousands of new students come to the Urbana campus to participate in Welcome Week activities. Directly after new student convocation, students walk to Lot 31 to participate in the Welcome Celebration Lunch & Tabling. Dining Services serves thousands of students via buffet lines in a matter of 20-30 minutes. Tables are set up throughout the area for new students to learn about different interest groups on campus.

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Rainwater Management Program (RMP) showcases a future vision for the campus that emphasizes the importance of rainwater retention and replenishment. The goal is to transition from the traditional viewpoint of stormwater runoff as a maintenance issue to one that envisions rainwater as an asset to preserve, harness, and celebrate.

As part of the iCAP 2020 objective 3.4.1 to develop a Commuter Program, Parking and F&S will create an Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program. The ERH program will provide faculty and staff who use alternative modes of transit—besides their personal vehicles—to travel to work, access to a free ride in an emergency event. In providing this service, the University will help facilitate its employees choosing a more sustainable transportation option by reassuring them that they could still travel home quickly in an emergency.
