Key Objective: 8.7 Local Offsets Program
The iCAP 2020, objective 8.7 is: “Establish a local offsets program by FY24.” The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is iSEE. Progress is tracked in the iCAP Portal project page for Develop Local Carbon Offset Program.
As stated in the Transportation chapter, we are interested in pursuing local carbon offset programs, in part to mitigate greenhouse gases (GHG) generated as a result of university air travel but primarily as a way to educate faculty and staff about air emissions.
In collaboration with local communities, we plan to adhere to the following steps in pursuit of a results-driven carbon offsets program:
By the end of FY22, inventory available peer institutions and offset programs through a literature review.
By the end of FY23, develop a plan with wide stakeholder engagement both on and off campus.
During FY24, initiate the finalized plan.
The Resilience iCAP Team had its first online meeting of the year on Friday, September 9th from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
