This project is about butterfly/pollinator planting between the Uni Gym and Hue House, which was approved by the University Landscape Architect Brent Lewis. The team is working with the Tree Club as the Tree Club is interested in helping with the Butterfly Planting.
The Billion Dollar Green Challenge (The Challenge) encourages colleges, universities, and other nonprofit institutions to invest a combined total of one billion dollars in self-managed revolving funds that finance energy efficiency improvements. Participating institutions achieve reductions in operating expenses and greenhouse gas emissions, while creating regenerating funds for future projects. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign joined The Challenge in summer 2015.
Street lights are the responsibility of various jurisdictions in the University District.
Traffic signals at the corners of Sixth Street and Armory Avenue and Fourth Street and Gregory Drive have been updated with LED fixtures.
As part of the iCAP and LED Campus initiatives at the University, interior lights will upgraded with LEDs. This is part of the LED Campus commitment to replace all interior fixtures on campus with LEDs by 2050. Responsibility for interior lighting in buildings is dependent on the Division of Responsibility documents for each building.

The primary deliverable of this proposed project is to provide a detailed waste characterization assessment for three facilities located throughout the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois. Lincoln Avenue Residence Halls (LAR), Business Instructional Facility (BIF), Roger Adams Laboratory(RAL) are facilities that will be characterized.
The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center a division of the Prairie Research Institute is part of a pilot project on the University of Illinois campus that will explore methods to capture carbon dioxide from the gas- and coal-fired Abbott Power Plant. The ultimate goal is to reduce CO2 emissions and developing industrial markets that would reuse the recovered CO2. The Department of Energy is funding the $1.3 million engineering and planning phase, representing the DOE’s first sponsorship of a large-scale research and development project for the capture of CO2 emissions.
The Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE) is hosting a Community Conversation on Energy Conservation on October 20, 2015. The purpose of this event is to discuss the incentives and opportunities for energy conservation and the barriers that constrain participation by local businesses in energy efficiency projects.
As part of its outreach mission, the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE) will host a major international conference each fall. We call it the iSEE Congress.
The 2015 iCAP, chapter 11, objective 3 is, "Organize and promote three major sustainability events on campus each year: Earth Week, Campus Sustainability Week, and the iSEE Congress."
