Professors Warren Lavey and Jodi Endress are developing a course to teach students how to evaluate the holistic impacts of various sustainability projects.  They are considering projects that have been done on campus, in town, or even globally.  There are often multiple dimensions of returns from these projects, which are not always captured in a financial Return on Investment analysis. 

Students for Environmental ConcernS (SECS) is UIUC's oldest and largest environmental group. We work with all things green on campus and around the community. Check us out at our weekly meetings every Wednesday @ 6:30 at the Channing Murray Foundation.

This project  involves encouraging more bicycle uses for employees. Packages can be sent out and delivered through the use of a bicycle. Bicycles can also be used for hauling objects to specific locations with the help of special equipment built by the Campus Bike Center.  Student and Staff employees will be involved in the process. 

Ever wonder what happens to your electronic waste?

Electronic waste, or "e-waste," including computers, TVs, cameras, printers, and cell phones, etc., is a growing global issue. Through the International Sustainable Electronics Competition, participants are asked to explore solutions to remediate the existing e-waste problem, prevent e-waste generation in the future, and foster a more sustainable system for electronic device development, use, and management.

The University Library successfully received a grant for "Providing Sustainable Climate Control for the Archives Research Center."

The National Endowment for the Humanities offers many grant opportunities at http://www.neh.gov/grants.  Some of these grants are directly linked to sustainability initiatives. 

The Facilities & Services Division supports sustainability curriculum through guest lectures in academic courses.  To request a guest lecturer or presentation, instructors can contact the Facilities & Services Sustainability Coordinator.  

Housing Dining Services began recycling the glass wine and liquor bottles from their Catering Services operation at the end of July 2013.

Bicycle Ambassadors are bicycling enthusiasts who are working to improve bicycle culture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Interested students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to apply to become a Bicycle Ambassador by completing our online form.  Applications are now being accepted, and the Bike Ambassador program was launched on campus in September, 2013. 

The Campus Administrative Manual includes the requirement to follow the University Bicycle Ordinance, which enforces safe cycling (including human powered bicycle, e-bikes, and e-scooters) behavior on all off-road university property, including sidewalks, shared use paths, and bicycle paths.
