Project Updates for collection: Student Sustainability Committee Funded Projects

Search

Search tips:

  • This form will search for words in the title OR the description. If you would like to search for the same term(s) across both the title and description, enter the same search term(s) in both fields.
  • This form will search for any of the words you enter in a field, not the exact phrase you enter. If you would like to search for an exact phrase, put double quotes (") around the phrase. For example, if you search for Bike Path you will get results containing either the word Bike OR the word Path, but if you search for "Bike Path" you will get results containing the exact phrase Bike Path.
  1. $250,000 available in FY13; allocation process TBD

    Associated Project(s):

    Mike Marquissee confirmed the funding available for allocation in FY13 is $250,000. Doris Reeser stated that there will be no AFMFA allocation meeting this year.  It was decided that the call for proposals should wait until there is at least $1M to allocate from this fund.  Therefore, there will not be a selection process during FY13.

  2. Price per kwh will include cost for connection to the grid

    Associated Project(s):

    The RFP for the Solar Farm included various options on the pricing proposal form. Kent Reifsteck confirmed that we will move forward with getting approval from the Board of Trustees for the option that includes all costs in the price per kilowatt-hour. This includes the full ten year cost of the Solar Farm installation, operations, and maintenance, and the cost to connect the installation to the campus electrical grid.

  3. invoices to pay RSOs

    Morgan,

    I have attached the invoices for the RSOs. I have been informed by the RSO account tech that you need to make the check payable to the University of Illinois. You can put their RSO name in the memo or write c/o after the University of Illinois with their RSO name. Whichever works easiest for you. Once you have done this, please send the checks to me (my mail code is listed below). I will contact the students and give them instructions on how to cash these checks. Please let me know if you need anything further.

    Subject: RE: Weatherization Project Payments

    Hello all,

    Thank you so much for participating in the 2011-2012 Weatherization Program. Your incentives for participating in the program will be available at the Office of Registered Organizations on the day classes begin. Please ask for me when you arrive.

    When you come to pick up your check you will need to take it to the Cashier’s window in 100 Henry Administration Building. You will need your 4-digit RSO account number (ACCOUNT #1-90__ __ __ __-389005-307900-199000) in order to deposit the check into your RSO account. Your treasurer should know this number. If your treasurer does not know this number, he or she may request if from the Office of Registered Organizations (please note that only the treasurer may request this number).

    Please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy the last few days of summer!

    Best Regards,

    Mckenzie Beverage

  4. Best and Final Offer (BAFO) received

    Associated Project(s):

    The preferred vendor, as identified through the RFP evaluation process, was asked to submit a Best and Final Offer (BAFO). This item was received and the campus will finalize exact funding plan.

  5. Campus Bike Project Funding Agreement

  6. Funding Award and Acceptance Letter_ECE Solar

    The new Electrical and Computer Engineering building (New ECE building) will be operational starting the fall semester of 2014, and will be a unique green building on the University of Illinois campus. It is designed to be the most energy efficient engineering building in the world and is targeting LEED platinum certification, the highest rating for efficiency. With the full planned solar energy complement, the building is projected to achieve net zero energy status. The facility will be one of the two largest net-zero energy buildings in the United States. It will be a facility that supports all its own energy needs – on average over each year – leaving no carbon or fossil consumption footprint. Although the ECE building design itself is intended to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the energy objectives go far beyond this rating to true energy sustainability.

  7. Energy Shade Curtains PSL Greenhouses

    Energy shade curtains have many benefits for greenhouses including optimization of natural light reaching the crop canopy and reductions in heating inputs and electricity for cooling equipment and lighting. This is the 3rd phase of funding provided to the Plant Care Facility (Turner Hall Greenhouses) for curtain installation and programming, and 7 additional curtains were installed at a total cost of $71,000. Meters installed in rooms with and without curtains continue to track energy savings, and have shown an overall 50% heating use reduction, 30% electricity use reduction, and 30% water use reduction (for cooling) during fall and winter months.

  8. Student Farm Funding Agreement

  9. Campus Bike Parking Overhaul Phase 1_Funding Award and Acceptance

  10. Burrill and Morrill Rain Garden Spring 2012 Funding Award and Acceptance

  11. Main Library Steam Reduction Project Funding Award and Acceptance Letter

  12. Campus Revolving Loan Fund

  13. Anaerobic Digester progress

    Associated Project(s):

    The scope for an anaerobic digester with a methane capture at the Beef and Sheep Facility on South Farms has been completed and the project will be opened for a Quality Based Selection of an appropriate engineering firm.

  14. 12 proposals for the Solar Farm

    Associated Project(s):

    The Request for Proposal for a Solar Farm Public-Private Partnership on South Farms resulted in 12 proposals for the Solar Farm.  The technical evaluation committee worked on reviewing and scoring each proposal, and provided some clarification questions to the UI Purchasing contact person.  The committee will meet again in May to identify a preferred vendor.
