Recycling Bin Update 04/01/24
Hi Todd & Mark,
Hi Todd & Mark,
Hi all,
We have completed all outdoor bin location proposals. With all the photos it is a large document, so I have placed it on a shared Box. Please let me know if any of these locations need further clarification
On July 18th, Brent Lewis approved 16 more sites for installation, and the site on Champaign property was approved on July 6. On September 6th, these 17 sites plus the 7 additional sites sent to earlier this summer on June 7th (the eighth site at Siebel Center for Computer Science was installed on August 1st, so it was omitted from this spreadsheet), were sent to the iron workers for a total of 24 sites.
55 dual bins remain in storage and need site proposals from the zero waste team and approval from Brent Lewis.
79 outdoor dual bins remain in storage.

On June 7, 2023 Morgan White and Brent Lewis approved 8 more outdoor bin locations, 1 pending approval from City of Champaign. The 8 locations will be passed along to the iron workers.
Morgan White, Daphne Hulse, & Sinead Soltis met to review the completed outdoor bin survey, which maps out the bins currently installed on campus and can be found in an ArcGIS online format. Over the next two weeks, the sites with a proposed bin installation will be finalized to resume installation. A follow-up meeting will be held Wednesday, June 7th, to better understand what is needed to get work order started. As a note, about 40 bins have been installed out of the 74 ordered.
This project will improve the waste process around the outdoor campus areas and increase recycling participation. It will do this by increasing recycling bin visibility with improved bins and signage, co-locating waste and recycling bins, and improving the overall layout of waste and recycling bins on campus. There are currently 372 concrete trash bins on campus and an additional 60 made of other materials. Facilities & Services initially proposed to remove all 432 of the bins and to replace them with a total of 133 dual bins.

Hi, Sydney!
I hope you are doing well. I’m reaching out regarding your project called 'Outdoor Recycling Bin Update.'
Morgan, Ryan, and Brent met in a conference room to review exact bin locations. They got through page A.
Todd from the ironworkers shop has begun rolling out the bins as planned / verified. We still need to go through the rest of campus to get him more locations to complete. As Shantanu Pai is still in Chicago, Sydney who is the newest zero waste intern at F&S can facilitate the documentation and communication with the trades.
Ryan Welch, Morgan White, and Shantanu Pai visited the Red Oak Rain Garden to review location placement for the new outdoor trash and recycling bin. The bin will be placed along the north-south sidewalk parallel to Dorner Drive, near the crosswalk.
