Housing has been using the educational program Buy, Use, Toss? A Closer Look at the Things We Buy to inform hired parapros about sustainability issues and promote sustainable thought. Buy, Use, Toss? focuses on analyzing items that Americans typically dispose of; analyzing the environmental, social, and economic impacts everyday items have; defining sustainability in relation to the economy, the environment, and society; considering the impact of the construction and distribution of material goods; considering the purpose of advertising; deciding the impact on quality of life material goods have; considering how trash should be dealt with; and rethinking the design of the components of the materials economy.
