Explanation

As stated in the Transportation chapter, we are interested in pursuing local carbon offset programs, in part to mitigate greenhouse gases (GHG) generated as a result of university air travel but primarily as a way to educate faculty and staff about air emissions.

In collaboration with local communities, we plan to adhere to the following steps in pursuit of a results-driven carbon offsets program:

  • By the end of FY22, inventory available peer institutions and offset programs through a literature review.

  • By the end of FY23, develop a plan with wide stakeholder engagement both on and off campus.

  • During FY24, initiate the finalized plan.
