FY24 RCx (In Progress)
Description
In FY24, the Retrocommissioning teams addressed deferred maintenance in the following buildings.
Illinois Conference Center
The retrocommissioning project included retiring legacy controls on AHUs and 49 VAV boxes, installing new software to enable scheduling on a per-room basis, and fixing multiple issues such as reheat control valves. The HVAC control systems were upgraded to browser-based graphics with remote access, improving economizer and relative humidity controls while eliminating simultaneous heating and cooling operations. These measures resulted in a projected annual savings of $84,120, including reductions of 23% in electricity, 58% in chilled water, and 68% in natural gas consumption. Utility incentives of $108,164, including funding from Ameren grants, helped reduce the project cost significantly, achieving a 3.43-year simple payback period and a savings-to-investment ratio of 3.7.
Project Highlights:
- Retired outdated HVAC controls and improved scheduling capabilities
- Enhanced indoor air quality with precise humidity and temperature management
- Reduced operational energy costs and extended equipment lifespan
- Achieved projected energy savings equivalent to booking 440 additional rooms annually
