Projects Updates for Bicycle Counts

Search tips:
  • This form will search for words in the title OR the description. If you would like to search for the same term(s) across both the title and description, enter the same search term(s) in both fields.
  • This form will search for any of the words you enter in a field, not the exact phrase you enter. If you would like to search for an exact phrase, put double quotes (") around the phrase. For example, if you search for Bike Path you will get results containing either the word Bike OR the word Path, but if you search for "Bike Path" you will get results containing the exact phrase Bike Path.

  1. Bike Census 2016

    Associated Project(s):

    Thank you for last year when you volunteered to count bikes with us!
    I am reaching out to let you know about this year coming Bicycle Census. Your help goes a long way each census.
    We are counting bikes from 10-11am on Wednesday, April 20.
    If you can't count then, we are looking for a few people to count the bike racks at a couple of residence halls at either 7 am or 7 pm on Wednesday April 20. If you are willing to count then, please indicate this at the bottom of the form. You will still need to come to one of the orientation sessions, so we can give you a map, instructions, and make sure you know how to use the GIS app for your smart phone.
    I've invited you to fill out the form April 20, 2016 U of I Campus Bicycle Census Volunteer Form. To fill it out, visit:

  2. Every Bike Counts 2015

    Associated Project(s):

    Volunteers are needed for Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10-11 am to count bikes on campus.  (We also could use a few people who could count bikes at 7am or about 7pm at FAR/PAR and the SixPack/Ikenberry Residence Halls. So that’s an option if 10-11am doesn’t work.)   Volunteers will be going out in teams of 2-3, so recruit a friend to help you.  Orientation will be needed as this year we are using volunteers’ smart phones with a GIS app installed to count bikes.

    Volunteers can register here.

    Happy Bike Census Day,

    Thank you so much for participating in the April 2014 Bike Census!

    We are really excited to get a hold of the data you collected it and to tally the count.

    Today (Wednesday) after 8PM and tomorrow (Thursday) before 6PM would be ideal. If you could please send me times when you know you will be at home or in an office, I will definitely try to stop by and pick it up then. I could also meet you at a specific time and place. Feel free to give me a call if that is easier.

    If it's easy, you could also scan and email it to me.

    Thanks again for participating! If you didn't get a t-shirt, please let me know and I will bring you one.

    Associated Project(s):

    Facilities and Services at the University of Illinois is partnering with Champaign County Bikes to count every bike on campus. The bicycle data collected is critical for future university decision-making and planning including: determining the location and quantity of additional bicycle parking needed to meet demand, estimating the increasing number of cyclists on campus, and prioritizing bicycle infrastructure projects.

    Volunteers are needed to help with the count and can register at http://tinyurl.com/kcbc4t4

    Please contact bike@illinois.edu for additional information.
