    Last team meeting of the semester! We heard updates from the students conducting research and introduced them to the AASHE STARS system.

    This past week, Sarthak and I met with the students on the Transportation Team to discuss their various research projects for the rest of this semester and the upcoming semester. We met with Pun Siripun on Nov.

Description

The Transportation iCAP Team is a team of faculty, staff and students who work to advance the iCAP 2020 transportation objectives. The team forms recommendations to reduce the 10% of campus emissions which are attributable to transportation. We address air travel emissions, fleet emissions, single-occupancy vehicle usage, renewable fuels, and active transportation.

 

Background

This team focused on the objectives found in Chapter 3 of the iCAP 2020:

3.1 Establish written replacement plans for at least 80% of campus fleets by FY24 to improve university-owned vehicle fuel efficiency. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is Fleet Managers and F&S.

3.2 Increase the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for university-owned roads so the average PCI score is at least 65 by FY25 and at least 70 by FY30. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is F&S.

3.3 Establish an Electric Vehicle Task Force to identify key goals for supporting the use of electric vehicles on and off-campus by FY22. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is Parking.

3.4 Reduce driving on campus and report the percentage of staff trips made using single-occupancy vehicles from 60% to 50% by FY25 and 45% by FY30. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is F&S.

3.4.1 Develop a Commuter Program (Bus, Bike, and Hike) for faculty and staff. Register 100 people by FY24 and 500 people by FY30. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is Parking with F&S.

3.4.2 Continue to implement the 2014 Campus Bike Plan. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is F&S.

3.4.3 Establish telecommuting policies for the campus by FY24. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is F&S with IHR.

3.5 Reduce net air travel emissions from FY14 baseline by: 50% by FY24 and 100% by FY30. The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is iSEE.
