Description
The iCAP 2020 objective 8.2 is to "Coordinate rainwater management plans for the entire urbanized areas of Champaign, Urbana, Savoy, and the university. Starting in FY21, share the total number of green infrastructure locations on the iCAP Portal on an annual basis." The responsible campus unit for championing this objective is F&S with UI Extension.
Effective rainwater management is crucial to combating urban vulnerabilities to climate change. A specific concern for this region is the projected increased frequency of droughts. In response, we are pursuing developing a coordinated rainwater management plan, which will include a drought management plan, considering plant selection options and rainwater harvesting techniques.
