The compost tumbler is once again available for drop-off at the National Soybean Research Center! A few reminders:
The 350 square-foot pollinator garden at the National Soybean Research Center is planted! The weather was beautiful and we had a fun time hearing plant stories and learning about our very own native species from Layne Knoche. Check out our Facebook post here.
One of the bolts on the compost tumbler has snapped and it has to be disassembled. Please refrain from bringing anything to drop off until further notice! An update will be posted on this iCAP Portal page and the Waste Reduction @ Illinois Facebook group when the tumbler is available once again for use. Thank you!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In an effort to be more “green” today and every day, we now have a compost tumbler on the west side of the National Soybean Research Center, thanks to SSC funding. This is the first publicly-accessible compost drop-off on campus!

This week (2/10 - 2/14) I distributed the letter to the offices in the NRSC to inform them of this composting project. We hope to collect the names and contact information in order to conduct a training and inventory how many supplies are needed. I also continued working on the composting guide for future projects.
Hi Meredith,
Here's my update for this week:
Shantanu Pai will be reaching out to Meredith Moore to discuss strategies for expanding small-scale composting like this project in other areas across campus.
