The objective of this project is to find out the relationship between the position of the LED lighting and plant growth. As a final product this student team will design and create an optimal LED plant pot that is aesthetically pleasing using 3D printing.
SSC convened on November 29th to discuss the LED Farming micro grant proposal, Step 2 voting details, and the idea of increasing the two fees.
Eco Illini Supermileage is a Registered Student Organization that designs and builds a prototype gasoline vehicle. Their focus is to make a vehicle as fuel efficient as possible and to compete in competitions such as the Shell Eco Marathon (SEM) and SAE Supermileage.
This garden will engage and train undergraduates in carbon reduction measures, as it will be maintained by undergraduate students in the Brinkworth lab and in the Department of Anthropology. These efforts include composting lab members’ food waste and developing a "Carbon Garden" on campus.

The Student Sustainability Committee convened on September 27, 2018, for a biweekly meeting. Topics included evaluation strategies, the role of faculty/staff advisors, as well as upcoming events.
Attached are the meeting minutes from the iWG meeting that was held on September 17th, 2018. Several SWATeam recommendations were assessed.
SSC has voted to approve the $500 micro grant proposal for a guest lecture series with the contingency that this grant is considered seed funding and not ongoing financial support. In accordance with our fee mandates, the funding cannot go towards, food, travel, or lodging. Thus, this grant supports the honorarium and/or venue fees.
