Beginning April 12, 2011 Abbott Power Plant will no longer burn any coal during the summer, when natural gas is enough to meet the campus energy demands.

As part of the ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit, 2,793 T-12 fixtures in the Digital Computer Laboratory were replaced with more energy-efficient T-8 fixtures. This switch will incur an Annual kWh Savings of 422,793 hours. The simple payback for this project is 0.23 years.

Planning Division brought into discussion, so the project can get implemented.  Matt Edmonson assigned as capital planner for the Food Waste Composting Feasibility Study.

As part of the ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit, 1,154 T-12 fixtures in nine buildings belonging to the Illinois State Water Survey were replaced with more energy-efficient T-8 fixtures. This switch will incur an Annual kWh Savings of 181,017 hours. The simple payback for this project is -2.45 years.

James provided the attached list of buildings audited by student teams in FY11.  Unfortunately, these audits were rushed and incomplete.  There were many follow up discussions about paying the student teams as originally intended, and in the end the teams were not paid.  This decision was coordinated by Mckenzie Beverage, the SSC Program Advisor, during FY12 and FY13.

As part of the ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit, 2,977 T-12 fixtures in the Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory were replaced with more energy-efficient T-8 fixtures. This switch will incur an Annual kWh Savings of 403,004 hours. The simple payback for this project is 1.17 years.

In March 2011, John Dempsey, then Executive Director of Facilities and Services, signed the conservation plan for the State Threatened Franklin's ground squirrel at the South Farms location (for wind turbine installation).

A modified version of the site location for the wind turbine was proposed.

In March 2011, the university provided the history and the current status update regarding the wind turbine project at the South Farms location.

As part of the ICECF 2009 Lighting Retrofit, 621 T-12 fixtures in the Computing Applications Building were replaced with more energy-efficient T-8 fixtures. This switch will incur an Annual kWh Savings of 113,735 hours. The simple payback for this project is 0.74 years.
