Project Updates search results
Search tips:
- This form will search for words in the title OR the description. If you would like to search for the same term(s) across both the title and description, enter the same search term(s) in both fields.
- This form will search for any of the words you enter in a field, not the exact phrase you enter. If you would like to search for an exact phrase, put double quotes (") around the phrase. For example, if you search for Bike Path you will get results containing either the word Bike OR the word Path, but if you search for "Bike Path" you will get results containing the exact phrase Bike Path.

Status update sent to iCAP Teams
Associated Project(s):The iCAP Topical Teams and iCAP Working Group were provided the following status update for the iCAP 2025 development process.
Hello iCAP teams,
Thank you again for all that you did to support the Illinois Climate Action Plan this year. I’m writing to share a quick update on the development of the iCAP 2025, and let you know the next steps we are taking.
Miriam Keep has developed a schedule for the creation of the actual iCAP 2025 document, which I’m summarizing here. During the next few weeks, Miriam will be drafting the 2-4 page chapters using the information your teams have provided, and I’ll send them to the iCAP chairs and a few key stakeholders for a technical review. Then iSEE and F&S will work together to complete the draft document for formal approval by the Chancellor (or Interim) this fall. The intention is to do a grand release during the Campus Sustainability Celebration, which is typically in October.
If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to contact me, Jen, Miriam, or your team’s chair. I’m excited to see the next version of the iCAP!
Thanks,
Morgan
archived project description
Associated Project(s):On February 22, 2008, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign became a signatory to the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). We are currently one of more than six-hundred Colleges and Universities that are participating in this endeavor. The commitment requires annual reporting that includes updated greenhouse gas emissions inventories on even years and progress reports on odd years. Illinois' progress report was submitted on January 15, 2013 and can be viewed here.
In the future, Illinois will be required to submit updated GHG emissions inventories and progress reports on alternating years. The first GHG emissions inventory was submitted in 2012 and the first progress report was submitted in 2013. As reports become available, they will be publicly available on the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE) and ACUPCC websites.
IPM project page added to iCAP Portal
Associated Project(s):After a discussion with Land and Water iCAP Team members and some IPM contact people, a project page was created on the iCAP Portal to house the collected documents. Prior related project updates were also connected to this project for reference purposes.
Weekly Update: Training new staff, Donated bikes
Associated Project(s):All, Been slow but good here, as we’re in a lull between spring semester and summer sessions. Slow times allow us to provide better service to the folks that do come through, so that’s a positive.
Training up new staff and trying to keep on top of builds/donations as the spring and summer clean outs have netted us a good amount of bikes. But of course no matter how many bikes we have for sale, we’ll sell out come August. A good problem to have, I suppose.
The numbers:
Visitors: 31
Sales: $841
Memberships: 6 for $180
Bikes (refurb): 2 for $335
Tires/tubes: 10 for $72Thanks!

CEE 449 Water Sampling Report - Spring 2025
Associated Project(s):In Spring 2025, a CEE 449 course instructed by Prof. Ro Cusick built on water quality testing conducted by the same course in 2024 by conducting water quality testing in all campus residence halls. The testing confirmed previous findings that water quality in residence halls is very good. The final report is attached.

Associated Project(s):Attached is Veo bike share data for April 2025.
Attached Files:Funding Status Update
Associated Project(s):The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Susan Martinis, the Interim Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations Lowa Mwilambwe, the Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Facilities & Services Jeff Angiel, the Director of the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Madhu Khanna, and the iSEE Associate Director for Campus Sustainability Jennifer Fraterrigo met on May 15, 2025 to discuss the status of the Green Research program and the staffing request.
While everyone agreed that the program and coordinator position are important, the group felt that the timing is not right to ask for a new position given the current economic climate and impending budget recission for F&S. The VCRI suggested we brief the Sustainability Council next fall to inform Provost Coleman and the future chancellor about this effort. Everyone deeply appreciates the committee’s work on this topic and remains enthusiastic about implementing the program once we are in a better financial position.
Discussion about Metrics - May 19, 2025
Associated Project(s):Sarthak Prasad, Michael McKelvey, Morgan White, Quinn Connolly, Miriam Keep, and Tiffany Jolley met to discuss iCAP Metrics improvements - specifically, displaying metrics with large numbers of tracking records and combining multiple metrics on a single graph.
Discussion/Decisions
- Need better way to display metrics with large numbers of tracking records
- See Discussion about Metrics - October 16, 2024
- e.g. Wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) - 9 years of monthly tracking data
- Need to be able to combine multiple metrics on a single graph
TODOs:
- Michael to investigate Highcharts as a replacement for Google Charts
- Maintain tabs showing individual targets
- Allow selection of graph type (bar, line)
- Michael to investigate calculated/combined metrics:
- Show multiple metrics on single chart
- Stretch goal: automatically calculate percentage against a baseline metric (e.g. Solar Farm 1 and Solar Farm 2 as percentages of Total Energy Use)
- Michael will add theme maps embed code to theme pages
- Remove objective numbers from beginning of metric names (see Objectives Dashboard)
- Discuss metric naming convention in next iCAP Portal group meeting
- Need better way to display metrics with large numbers of tracking records
Discussion about Recommendations - May 19, 2025
Associated Project(s):Morgan White, Miriam Keep, Elizabeth Murphy, Tiffany Jolley, Quinn Connolly, Sarthak Prasad, and Michael McKelvey met to discuss how best to cross reference iCAP Projects and Recommendations.
Discussion/Decisions
- Rec's link to
- a Team,
- Associated Project(s),
- Objective(s), and
- Future Updates project
- What to include on the team pages?
- example logged in and logged out
- For now: decided to hide the sidebar listing of associated Recommendations and show the list of recommendations w/recommendation updates in main section
- Discuss how to display the recommendations (and recommendation updates?) in next large group meeting
- What to include on the iWG page? and the Sustainability Council page?
- iWG project page: button in description field linking to Recommendations page
- Sustainability Council page: disassociate this project with recommendations
- How to get to recommendations from the Home page?
- Through link to iWG - decided not including a direct link to Recommendations page
- Could these be based on theme instead of team? What to show on a theme page?
- Decided not to show list of recommendations on Theme pages; get to recommendations through iCAP Team linked in description
- Which projects should be associated? should it just be by objective and future updates..?
- Associated Project(s): Don't include iWG and Team projects; just a minimal list of associated project(s)
- Further Updates Will be Posted To...: 1 new project spawned by recommendation (if applicable)
- How to remove the summary pages?
- The following projects can be found under Topical iCAP Teams
- Recommendations summary projects (e.g. Education iCAP Team Recommendations Summary):
- Remove list of recommendations from Background
- Delete each project update that's actually a recommendation update (after confirming info has been migrated to a Recommendation Update)
- Delete Recommendation summary project (?)
- iCAP Team projects (e.g. Education iCAP Team)
- Add link to Recommendations page filtered by related iCAP Team (e.g. see Transportation iCAP Team page)
TODOs:
- Show associated recommendations on projects linked via "Further Updates Will be Posted To..." field
- Add time-based filter on Recommendations listing page (e.g. last 5 years)
- Rec's link to
