This past week, Sarthak and interns Emily and Max have been working on tagging bicycles on campus for the abandoned bicycles project. Today, the tagging portion of the abandoned bicycles project was completed. Across all blocks of campus, 665 bicycles were tagged. After June 30th, bicycles that do not have their orange tags removed will be collected.
Today, members of the planning team attended the first meeting for Bike Month. The team discussed bike lights, event dates, event times, event locations, and future meeting dates.
Max started as the Sustainable Transportation Intern on June 10, 2025.
A smaller frame gray bicycle was recently acquired. It was taken to Campus Bike Center for small repairs by Sarthak and a bike lock was also purchased.
Emily and Sarthak have started tagging bicycles and recording their coordinates using ArcGIS Field Maps in the 10 (near the F&S building) and 11 (Ikenberry Quad) blocks of campus.
Ventilation systems were installed in each of the seven shipping containers last week and electrical work is currently being done to add power to the shipping containers. There are also hooks installed to hang bikes on one side of the wall in each shipping container.
Work order #11257249 was created for for the Sign Shop to create and install seven (7) 18'x24' metal signs to be installed on each of the seven shipping containers for bicycle storage. These containers are located between the Abbott Chilling Plant and the Personnel Building. Attached is a png of the sign design for shipping container 1.
Emily Repetowski started as the Sustainable Transportation Intern on June 3rd, 2025. Sarthak gave an overview of the iCAP Portal on June 6th. Sarthak also requested Clerk iCAP Portal access for Emily.
RailSplitter Wind Farm provided the May 2025 Buyer's Share amounts by the hour, totaling 1,878 Megawatt hours.The May 2025 Buyer's Share Report is attached below.
All, Been slow but good here, as we’re in a lull between spring semester and summer sessions. Slow times allow us to provide better service to the folks that do come through, so that’s a positive.
Training up new staff and trying to keep on top of builds/donations as the spring and summer clean outs have netted us a good amount of bikes. But of course no matter how many bikes we have for sale, we’ll sell out come August. A good problem to have, I suppose.

One of the F&S departmental bike share bikes was repaired by Sarthak Prasad and Jake Benjamin at the Campus Bike Center on May 22, 2025. There is one more F&S departmental bike share bicycle that will repaired sometime next week.
F&S is also looking to purchase a small frame bicycle to add to their departmental bike share.
Work order #11252549 for the Key Shop to make 7 long shackled weatherproof padlocks for the shipping containers for the bike storage was completed on 05/22/2025. This task cost $544.84.

The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Susan Martinis, the Interim Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations Lowa Mwilambwe, the Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Facilities & Services Jeff Angiel, the Director of the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Madhu Khanna, and the iSEE Associate Director for Campus Sustainability Jennifer Fraterrigo met on May 15, 2025 to discuss the status of the Green Research program and the staffing request.
While everyone agreed that the program and coordinator position are important, the group felt that the timing is not right to ask for a new position given the current economic climate and impending budget recission for F&S. The VCRI suggested we brief the Sustainability Council next fall to inform Provost Coleman and the future chancellor about this effort. Everyone deeply appreciates the committee’s work on this topic and remains enthusiastic about implementing the program once we are in a better financial position.

Check out our new report on EV infrastructure, based on a survey of peer universities. The study examines how institutions across the country are planning, funding, and implementing EV charging solutions to support campus sustainability and evolving transportation needs.
The insights gathered will inform our campus’s approach to EV infrastructure development and long-term mobility planning.
Final meeting where members reflected on the year's accomplishments and reviewed projects/gave feedback on procedures.
School of Art and Design Re-Fashioned Fashion Show
The annual School of Art and Design fashion show is back! Re-Fashioned will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the Siebel Center. Admission is free. Students from the Studio Arts Fashion Concentration will be presenting over 100 one-of-a-kind ensembles. Wearable works of art walk the runway, combining sustainability and creativity in a fun event for the whole family.
